In celebration of literary and visual arts, YUR Magazine is hosting the Poetic Pen, facilitated by Bruce George (Co-Founder of HBO’s Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam and managing editor for The Bandana Republic). This event will take place Saturday, August 16, 2008 from noon - 3 p.m. YUR Magazine is seeking to inform and provide the participants in the literary arts community with simple, yet helpful steps that can improve their art or talent.

The Poetic Pen will target youth ages 15 and up as well as adults.  YUR Magazine hopes to deliver this educational and cultural workshop to up and coming literary greats within the Nashville Community and surrounding areas. This workshop will be dedicated to assisting individuals to find their most authentic voice and hone their poetry writing skills. It is our goal to provide participants with a supportive, yet challenging environment to develop and enhance their skills as a poet, writer and/or spoken word artist.  This initiative will promote the artistic movement through literary and visual arts.
